hola mis amigos, hello friends,
i can't believe it but the spring tour, our busiest and most rocking yet, is over. my suits are at the cleaners, my bags are unpacked, and i've wandered aimlessly around brooklyn a few times to celebrate. thank you all for your continued support. with every tour we feel the results of all of the good words that you have spread around to your friends and families. people are showing up to the shows in larger numbers and, more importantly, everyone seems to know that they're coming to sing and dance, that we'll all be in it together. it's the old fashioned way, right here in the 21st century. muchas gracias a todos. we love you.
we've had some pretty memorable adventures recently and fortunately someone had the presence of mind to document them. here they are for any of you who wonder what life is like when we're not on stage:
i sang the national anthem at the opening game of our fantastic minor league baseball team the brooklyn cyclones. that song is a real challenge to put it mildly. our accordion player, john foti, had been watching national anthem bloopers on youtube and was terrified for me. he came out on the field with his penny whistle to make sure i started on the right note. thank you johnny! sonia, saskia, elena, john, and i sang "take me out to the ball game" during the seventh inning stretch. all in all a hilarious night in brooklyn. good luck cyclones, ˇbuena suerte! click here for pictures.
yes, it's now officially the 21st century for us, we sang a mexican song on national television! we had the pleasure of appearing in the cbs early show last week. we sang "colas" from ˇnueva york! and part of "catch that train." looking back on the performance later, it reminded me once again how lucky i am to be a part of such a spirited, versatile, and emotional band. it's my favorite band in the world and i get to sing with them!

later that week we went uptown to harlem for a listening party and performance at the hue-man bookstore. the store itself is a pretty exciting place to hang out under any circumstances and certainly the right spot for an early evening jam. colin, elena, and sonia and i were joined were joined by silvia sierra, joaquin maria del rosario, bernardo palombo, and surprise guest nilko andreas. here is a look at some of the fun.
upcoming event alert! one of my all time favorite groups is coming to new york. los cenzontles from san pablo california will be performing two shows at el taller on 103rd and broadway on friday july 11th, a family show at 6pm and a later show at 9pm. i'll be a part of the show too but it's really an amazing opportunity to hear one of the most soulful groups performing traditional forms of mexican music today. click here to learn more about them. click here for the el taller website. have you gone up there for spanish lessons yet? this is your chance to get your feet in the door. ˇte veo allí!
starting at the end of july we'll be out with the first ever disney block party. it's going to be a wild new experience for us and we're very much looking forward to it. i hope that you can come out to sing and dance with us when we come to your neck of the woods. click here for tour dates.
